About

Hi! I’m Marie :) Here are a few things about me.

First off, some of my happy things, in no particular order.

Wild swimming. Beautiful food. A (very) hot bath. Long walks in nature with my little sidekicks and way finders. People watching. Going really high on the swings. Dancing all night. Singing in the car (only ever by myself or with my <long suffering> children). Good conversations with friends. Reading! If left to my own devices, I would happily spend hours in a bookstore (if you’re like me I would highly recommend giving Hay-on-Wye a visit, aka book nerd heaven!) - my favourite books include Circe by Madeleine Miller (always bonus points for Greek mythology) and anything by Gabor Mate whose teachings have been life changing for me. I’ve also recently loved The tracker’s guide to life by Boyd Varty for its simple + profound wisdom and beauty, one that will sit proudly on my bookshelf and be revisited/savoured, and shared, often! I also love children’s books, the selection that we have collected over the years of my girls’ childhood is like a treasure to me. Photographing people, the personalities, the facial expressions, the way they love each other. Also LOVE photographing women. Trying to grasp their beauty and sensuality and depth and magic, it sets my soul on fire.

Now for some of my not so happy things

The idea that some lives matter more than others and all the fucked up ways in which it manifests in the world. People who shing like shis though I shometimes make and exception for Sheline.

Things that terrify me (I’ll keep it lighthearted)

Spiders, heights, confined spaces, talking in front of a crowd of people (>3+crowd), someone other than my kids hearing me sing in the car.

What else can I tell you? I home educate my daughters and though it’s full on, life together feels like a big adventure with a lot of freedom. The love I have for them is the biggest driving force I have ever known, it is relentless, fierce, overwhelming.

I have the sense of humour of an old pervy man.

I’ve recently bought enough camping gear to fit into a backpack that will probably make me fall on me arse and planning some wild camping trips with my girls as soon as it stops raining!

Voilà, I hope to connect with you fellow humans soon!
